Rhythmic breathing can be performed to the front or side. (2). 100 yards of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence. (3). 100 yards of either front crawl using rhythmic breathing or breaststroke. These 100 yards may be a combination of both strokes. (4) Tread water for two minutes without the use of hands and arms. Arms are to be crossed with hands placed under armpits. Your head must remain above the water. (5). Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth of 12 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface and swim back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps. This must be performed within 1 minute and 40 seconds.

Successful course completion requires participation in all classroom and skills sessions, as well as successful performance in skill and knowledge evaluations. Due to the nature of the skills in this course, you will be participating in strenuous activities, such as performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the floor, removing someone from the water, etc. If you have a medical condition or disability or if you have questions about your ability to participate full in this course, discuss them with your physician or health care provider and instructor before you start the course.
